This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the ninth generation (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and maybe also the 2016) Honda Civic in checking or changing a blown fuse or relay in either the engine bay or interior passenger compartment electrical panel locations. This 2013 Civic LX sedan is equipped with the relatively newer style. If necessary, you may also use the slightly taller standard mini blade fuses. New fuses in a variety of amperage ratings (e.g. 5, 10, 15, 20, 25) can be purchased at various stores such as Pep Boys, Advance Auto Parts, O'Reilly, Napa, AutoZone, Walmart or online at Amazon. Place the jaws of the fuse puller tool over the old fuse that you'd like to check or change. Pull the old fuse straight out of the panel, remove it from the tool and hold it up to a light source. If the thin metal bar inside the translucent plastic center of the old fuse appears to be broken or 'burnt' the old fuse is probably 'blown' and should be replaced. If the thin metal strip inside the old fuse is still intact, the fuse is most likely still good. But since new fuses are so inexpensive, it should still be replaced as part of your electrical issue troubleshooting process.

Push a new of the same amperage rating (e.g. 5, 10, 15, 20, 25) straight in to the socket. You may also use the slightly taller standard mini blade fuses if necessary. They will just stick out from the electrical panel a bit further. Replace the fuse puller tool on the underside of the engine bay fuse box cover. Lower the fuse box cover over the panel and gently push it back in to place. Check that the fuse box cover is secure.
